Meet Wes Murakami

Wes Murakami is the General Manager of Kona Fish Company and his experience created a perfect fit for this position.

Wes graduated from Honokaa High School on the Big Island and went on to Portland Community College and Kapiolani Community College and enrolled in their culinary programs. Upon his return, he worked at the prestigious Mauna Kea Beach Resort.

Wes is an avid fisherman so he soon started selling fish that he caught on his days off to the hotel. Selling to other hotels on the Kohala Coast became quite lucrative for Wes. He decided to leave this hotel position and started his own fish company, Kawaihae Fish Company.

In 2000, Wes sold his company to Charlie Umamoto, the CEO of CMU & Associates, Inc. and owner of Kona Fish Company, where he continued to run Kawaihae Fish Company. Unfortunately, the facility perished in a fire so Wes went to work for Kona Fish Company in 2005.

As the General Manager, Wes oversees the daily operations and is the buyer of fresh and frozen products. He has established long term relationships with many of the customers along with the commercial fisherman and charter boat captains that catch the fresh fish from the Kona waters for the Kona Fish Company.

Wes is married and a father of three children.

Meet Daniel Stokes

Daniel has been with Kona Fish Company for three years as the Sales Manager and oversees all accounts on a daily basis. He eagerly visits the customers and provides a caring and friendly approach to all he meets, no matter the size of the business.

Daniel is a graduate of the University of Hawaii Manoa where he received a bachelor degree from the renowned Travel Industry Management School.

After graduating, he obtained sales positions in the seafood industry where he worked for seven years prior to his employment at Kona Fish Company.

His knowledge and experience in the seafood industry has been a great contribution to the company and has enabled him to work with all segments of the industry from retail, food service to institutions.
